While many labels take advantage of the dropping manufacturing costs of CDs, Steady Cam Records continues to release classic vinyl 7-inch singles that are snapped up by collectors and music fans alike. Since every single is special to Steady Cam Records, they try to make it special for the people buying the records too by hand numbering the sleeves and writing a welcoming note to the listeners.

By the turn of the century, Steady Cam Records had released five records, sold copies in Australia, Japan, UK and USA, and had hosted three very successful record launches in Sydney.

Critical response has been encouraging with reviewers here "Just when we thought all was lost in the vinyl world, along comes salvation in the shape of an independent Australian record company" (it: The Australian Music Collectors Magazine) and overseas "I wasn't expecting something this good from a little Australian label" (Riverrun Reviews - UK) passing favourable judgments.

In 2001, Steady Cam Records expanded their catalogue to include compact discs (about time said many!).

An important part of Steady Cam Records is their presence on the world wide web. The Steady Cam site contains regularly updated information on the current releases, bands that have appeared on a Steady Cam single, links to vinyl friendly labels and distributors here and overseas and an ever growing mailorder catalogue of Australian and overseas releases. The site has recently been nominated for an ONYA award in the Best Independent Record Label site category.
